Alyda is a petite womenswear brand that ethically produces timeless clothing for the modern woman under 5'4"
Our name, Alyda, comes from the latin word meaning ‘little winged one’, depicting one who is small but powerful, a wondrous thing of beauty and strength.
We hope that our limited collections, each containing a select number of carefully crafted pieces using ethically-produced fabrics, help you to feel just that: empowered, confident and beautiful, all throughout the year.
Every petite woman will be familiar with the disappointment of donning an online order, filled with hope, to reveal an unexpected floor-skimming hem, or a supposedly fitted waistline hanging below the belly-button.
So, in order to ensure you feel and look your best no matter your shape, we carefully fit-test all samples to real-life petite models, and continue to adjust them until each look is perfected.
We also incorporate flattering details like high waistlines and adjustable straps to ensure our pieces are specifically designed to empower the petite frame.
Our goal is to provide timeless, quality pieces that accentuate and empower petite figures of all shapes and sizes, but, as contributors to the fashion industry, we also have a responsibility to protect the planet and industry workers in any way we can.
That’s why we’ve partnered with a responsible manufacturer here in the UK whom we visit on a weekly basis, and our carefully curated collections contain a limited number of pieces in order to reduce waste.
Born and raised in Coventry, Abbey’s foray into the fashion industry began in her teens, when she launched an online vintage upcycling business.
At 4’11, she had always struggled to find stylish, modern clothes that flatter her figure and often found herself dissatisfied with the limited sustainable and quality options that would fit her.
Feeling this disappointment must be shared with other women under 5’3, Abbey was inspired to launch her own petite womenswear collection - and so, Alyda was born.
